Preliminary Task

There were four members in my group working on the preliminary task. From the brief we knew that we had to make a two minute section of a film/TV show where two characters, one being more dominant, exchange a few lines of dialogue. In our film we also had to include Match on action- , shot/reverse shot and the 180 degree rule where the camera doesn't cross the 'line of actions' otherwise the characters will appear on the otherside of the screen, causing confusion.

We discussed a few ideas then decided that the easiest way to present these things would be with a proposal scene.

Within our groups we were told to come up with a storyboard and a script.

Our story board should of included

• Every single shot used


• Clear diagrams/artwork of characters and locations

At the last miniute we decided that we would use Ollie and Kushi as the characters for our film. Not thinking about continuity we started filming straight away. [Pictures of Ollie wearing different clothes on the days of filming]

We were limited for setting of our film but i feel that this suited our group very well as our film was set in a school, as our main female character, Kushi worked as a teacher. We were told to use a small section of the school to film, i feel that this was good for us as it made it seem more like a real TV drama. If i were to campare this to a british tv drama that is on the television today io would say it was like waterloo road.

Filming

Many members in my group were confident with ther filming skills and i feel that helped my group progress through the task. I felt that this was the easiest part of the task as we all worked together and learnt new skills; I was taught various different technical terms that we look at in class. Dispite the fact that we were very confident in this field we did face a few problems

• We were given one tripod between three groups, this meant that for most of the time we were filming hand held making our film look slightly unprofessional.
